Christine was born and raised in Prince George's County and graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt High School at the age of 16. After receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from the University of Maryland College Park and getting married, Christine settled in Ward 1 and has called Laurel home for a little over 20 years.
Community - Christine is very active in the community. She has been active in her church since 1996, and in her neighborhood condo association since 2013. In 2014, Christine began working with the City of Laurel where her interest in local government grew tremendously. As Administrative Assistant for the Department of Communications, and also backup Receptionist and Passport Agent, Christine has had the opportunity to interact with the public and hear first hand the questions and issues posed by citizens daily. She is currently a member and 2nd VP of the Woman's Club of Laurel, a member of the Laurel Board of Trade and the Friends of Laurel Library.
Hobbies - In her downtime, you can find her reading a book, taking Zumba classes at the community center, and she can sometimes be found in the box office for Laurel Mill Playhouse where she has even tried her chops at acting in community theater. Christine is a friendly, outgoing and social person who wants others to know about and be involved in their community, where she believes you can truly make a difference.
Key Priorities for Laurel
Keeping Community First.
Protecting Vulnerable Neighbors – Ensuring seniors, children, and families get the support they need.
Advancing Literacy – Promoting reading and lifelong learning for all ages.
Celebrating Diversity – Honoring Laurel’s cultures and ensuring every voice is included.
Caring for our most vulnerable neighbors—seniors, children, and families in need—is more than a policy—it’s a promise. By making sure they know about the services available and helping them access them, we lift up all of Laurel.
A literate community is an empowered community. I support expanding programs and resources for reading and learning across all ages—so every Laurel resident has the tools to succeed.
Our diversity is what makes Laurel unique. By honoring our different cultures, histories, and voices, we ensure everyone feels not only seen but truly included in our city's story.
Supporting Seniors: Expanded the Citizens Advisory Committee to include residents ages 55+ ensuring older adults have a direct voice in shaping city policy.
Investing in Youth: Partnered with W.I.S.E and local organizations to host a student-athlete workshop, giving families resources on college admissions and financial aid.
Promoting Arts & Culture: Supported The Next Bestseller program, helping local writers pursue publishing opportunities and strengthening Laurel's creative community.
I listen first—because every strong decision starts with hearing our community. I am open-minded, fair, and committed to solutions that work for everyone in Laurel. My goal is simple: to put residents first, make decisions that keep our city thriving, and continue keeping community first in everything I do.
I am excited to continue serving because Laurel is a city full of opportunity and resilience. I want to keep learning from our residents, giving back to the community I love, and working to make Laurel a place where seniors feel supported, young people can succeed, and families and businesses thrive—all while keeping community first in every decision I make.
Laurel is strongest when we work together. Whether it’s volunteering your time, sharing your ideas, or making a donation, your support helps us build the future our community deserves—while keeping community first every step of the way.
